The grapefruit diet is a good way to quickly slim down because you’ll lose a few pounds in only 7 days without having to worry about your health.

The grapefruit diet is for those people who want to lose a few pounds in a short time, but it also has lapses: it is nutritionally deficient, and once completed, there is a big chance that the pounds will be put back if the old eating habits return.

The diet lasts for a week, and those who tried it managed to lose between 2 and 5 kilograms.

The diet is recommended for healthy people who are not on medication, as grapefruit contains a large amount of naringin, a bitter substance that rejects synthetic drugs. >> Fruits will be kept at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before consumption.

>> Do not eat between meals; sugar, fat, potatoes, bananas, cakes, and flour will be eliminated from the daily diet.

>> Also, coffee consumption will be limited to one cup per day.

>> The best thing you can do to start the grapefruit diet is to make sure that you drink plenty of water.

>> Eat more fruits, and you should have a daily dose of at least two cups of fruit.

>> Drink lemon water every morning on an empty stomach. The liver loves lemons. It is a dissolvent of uric acid and other poisons, liquefies the bile. That will help you lose weight faster.

What do you eat on the grapefruit diet?

The diet’s main rule is to eat half a grapefruit before each meal to stimulate the enzymes that cause fat burning.

The number of calories is limited to less than 1200 per day. The diet lasts 7 days and can be resumed after a break of 2 days. 

Example menu: 

>> Breakfast – ½ grapefruit or a cup of unsweetened grapefruit juice, 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon 

>> Lunch – ½ grapefruit or a cup of unsweetened grapefruit juice, chicken salad

>> Dinner – ½ grapefruit or a cup of unsweetened grapefruit juice, salad, meat, and vegetables 

How the grapefruit diet helps you to lose weight?

According to Dr. Ken Fujioca of the Center for Grapefruit Nutrition and Metabolism Research and the Scripps Clinic in California, people can lose weight by consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice. The study lasted 12 weeks and was performed on 100 subjects, divided into 3 groups:
>> The first group was given approximately 180 ml. grapefruit juice before meals.
>> The second group had to eat half a grapefruit before meals.
>> The third group did not eat grapefruit in any form.

The result: those who ate or drank grapefruit juice managed to lose between 1.8 kg. and 4.5 kg. During this time, the subjects enjoyed the same menu they usually had, increasing their time allocated to physical exercises. The same study showed that the fruit contains an enzyme that burns fat and helps absorb and reduce starch and sugar in the body. At the same time, grapefruit has chemical properties that reduce insulin levels, thus losing weight.

 Is It Grapefruit Diet Good for Certain Conditions?

No, it is not. Keep in mind that grapefruit can interact with your medication plan:

>> Grapefruit interacts with heart pills;

>> Some cholesterol medications called statins are affected by grapefruit.;

>> Grapefruit influences a few medications that treat abnormal heart rhythms
